The Chime Time Children’s Center was originally called The First Baptist Church Weekday Nursery School in 1956.
It was founded by Hester Linscott at the recommendation of the First Baptist Church. as an outreach program for the community. It was, and still is, owned by the church.
It was open Monday through Thursday, 8:45am to 11:45am. The center was closed for the summer. Religion is not taught at the center due to the diversity of the families we now serve.
In 1998, the center expanded its hours to make a full day program available. We are open from 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, year round. The 2014-2015 academic year will be our 58th year of operation and serving families from Melrose and surrounding communities.
